Fix Housing First is a diverse group of homeowners, community groups, associations, and home builders and manufacturers advocating short term incentives to qualified home buyers to help increase confidence in the housing market, create jobs, and help save the economy.
Some proposals that Fix Housing First are lobbying to have included in the new stimulus package are:
- A possible tax credit (depending on location) from $10,000 to $22,000 for anyone closing on the purchase of a home by end of 2009 AND the credit will not need to be repaid.
- Federally subsidized 30-year fixed rate mortgages at 2.99% for all home purchases closing by June 30, 2009 and 3.99%
for closing by December 31, 2009.
